SPH Engineering today joins the AiRXOS Air Mobility Platform Ecosystem, as an industry-leading partner in scaling the adoption of compliant, safe, and economically viable UTM solutions for the safe integration of unmanned aircraft (UA) into the manned airspace.

AiRXOS announced today the expansion of their Air Mobility Platform Ecosystem with the addition of 11 unmanned aircraft system (UAS) technology, service, and business partners. SPH Engineering and AiRXOS will work together to help improve advanced unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operations like beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) and multi-UA operations, that are fundamental enablers for scaling inspection and surveillance operations.

As drones gain widespread use across industries, engineers and software developers face new requirements they must implement. For enterprise organizations with large-scale facilities, for instance in the energy sector, employing BVLOS and multi-UAs can scale inspection operations for greater efficiency and safety, while enabling faster and better asset decision making. Advanced UAS operations allow for a more rational use of human resources, while providing UAS pilots with a flight authorization process tightly integrated into the ground control software.

“For the end customers, using BVLOS and multi-UA technology will mean that fewer pilots can fly more drones at longer distances,” says Jānis Ķuze, Sales Manager at SPH Engineering.

AiRXOS provides a number of applications to support commercial UAS operations, including the Air Mobility Platform, which is being deployed worldwide. The Air Mobility Platform uses UgCS a ground control software developed by SPH Engineering for offline operations.

“Developing unmanned traffic management systems (UTM) requires strong partnerships that help support innovation, value, and the growth of advanced UAS operations,” said Ken Stewart, CEO, AiRXOS. “We’re pleased to have industry leading partner SPH Engineering and their UgCS software as part of the Air Mobility Platform Ecosystem.”

To foster the implementation of BVLOS, a unified Urban Traffic Management (UTM) system is currently being developed, combining data on all drone missions and allowing for geofencing and geo-caging to ensure that drones comply with airspace restrictions. The integrated BVLOS and multi-UA operation solution has already been tested during flight operations for the FAA’s first phase of the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Traffic Management Pilot Program (UPP).
